Who knows. Tox is an elusive thing. Studies have shown a significant increase in vulnerability to O2 toxicity in the presence of high levels of CO2. CO2 at depth can fry you even without a tox event. The problem is most of these studies are done in dry environments. Wet chamber tests indicate toxicity thresholds go way down when immersed. Also, the work of breathing on air is higher than on mix. Higher work, higher CO2 buildup. Bottom line, tox is nothing to take lightly and deep air is dumb.
