I would guess it is all about product endorsements.. I mean after all our government will spend $500 on a hammer so I'm certainly not worried about what they endorse.
It's also important to note that an objective of a Navy SEAL is vastly different than that of an average recreational diver. Furthermore, the training level, the fitness levels and the equipment carried are all vastly different..
If you were lugging 80 lbs of explosives, using a CCR and were 18 years old and had extremely proficient V02 max test scores and weren't worried about RMV's, silt outs, entanglements etc. etc your choice of fin may vary materially from what you would choose when you were actually going out spending your own money, not the taxpayers...
