My guess is either a shortfin mako or a GW

Biggest problem is the refraction of the water--makes the fish look a lot thinner and the dorsal fin shorter than it probably is. The overall length can be safer guessed in the water though, and looking at common sizes, the blue shark is 3 - 6 feet, whereas the mako gets 5 - 9 and the GW 7 - 16 feet.

My main reason to believe it is not a blue shark are the gills. In the picture, it looks like a set of very pronounced gills, and that points to a GW or a shortfin mako, while the blue shark has quite small gill slits.

But whatever it was, I sure would have liked to see it too.
