Welcome to Ca. I actually lived at Edwards for about 5 years when I was around 8 years old. Graet place 30 years ago, hope it still is. The best way my wife and I found to get plugged in is to take a couple of trips to Catalina on a good boat, like Bottom scratcher, Sand Dollar, Great Escape, (check out californiadiveboats.com) and talk to the divers on board. check out the different trips to find the type you want, some have lots of students, some have dive clubs, some have a large variety. Talk to the dive shop who is taking the reservations for a particulare trip to get a feel for the type of divers who will be on board. Lots of great groups and people out there, have fun.
