Look at it this way: a lot of gear is manufactered to absolute minimum production standards. Also, it was designed on a drawing board with the primary objective of marketing and not derived from the real world of diving. That's the crap.
The non-crap, understandably more expensive, exceeds production standards and develops from the input given by highly experienced sport and semi-pro divers.
Bottom line: you get what you pay for. The crap will work but you'd better be prepared to give it extra special tlc and replace it often. Ultimately, not very cost effective.
