Thanks for the idea and I thought of that too. Problem is, I have my backup on a longer hose than my primary, because my (shared) emergency plans are to have an OOA buddy end up on this longer hose. It is so long, it would hang down with an open loop when I dive (in my horizontally trimmed position). And it is still the better of the two regs to be used by an OOA buddy, simply because it is longer. Switching the hoses now would not be a good idea, because that hose would be too long for an over-the-right-shoulder routing (but not long enough for underarm).
But anyway, right now I have other priorities.
