Lobster serve as a good example. In trying to get one (god forbid . . . seven!!!), you "miss" getting four others but manage to break off feelers or legs in the process. These animals, now wounded, are left to fend for themselves. So in the process of trying to get one, you may hurt two or three others badly enough that they don't survive. There's no real way for us to measure that impact but it certainly affects the overall population.
