Hi Terry,

I've read Richie's story before; it's accessible on several sites including his own at Bishopmuseum.org. and Jim Cobb's also has it posted on his Trimix.com site which as you know has volumes of useful information.

But I also remember several years ago reading his account of his second hit which came off a chain of islands several hundred miles Northwest of his base in Hawaii. Have you ever read it and if so do you have a link? It was an exciting adventure, he was hanging on an anchor line at sunset with a sizeable deco obligation when the anchor broke loose in heavy seas. Additionally there was a shark sizing him up so he had no choice but to blow off his deco and surface. He immediately went on 02 and they radioed for a chopper but conditions made an evac impossible so they set sail for Hawaii. It was one long tortuous journey home in heavy seas on a large sail boat. I've never been able to locate that story again. Any help?

JRG
