i tried to do the same exact thing a couple of weeks
back and i tested it in the pool. i also had
the same issues that you bring up here. i was
told, however, by some other divers that the
top of the pony may not have enough slack and
it may be placed too high on my shoulder strap.
i may just try it again and lower the position
(and give the bottle neck a bit more slack), but
i'm starting to think that my 13cuft pony may
be more comfy for me back on the primary tank,
which won't bother me as much since the purpose
for the pony is slightly moreso for me than for
a buddy.
if you try your setup again, best wishes.
