I tried a manifold. Hooked it between two of my LPs. Hated it. It permanently ties up two of your tanks in the hookup until you again unhook it. The you need a new vis inspection again. I like completely separate doubles now. Mike is right, you need separate SPGs, but ScubaPro makes nice, small analog SPGs that are perfect. When you have a nasty beach like Monastery in your neighborhood, where you never know if you are going to get rolled, its nice not having to worry about a manifold blowing out on you during the egress. Mike is right, for the open ocean, a manifold "bridge" is fine, but with separate tanks you have more flexibility in planning your dives. I think the Europeans are Doing It Right in this case. Its just a matter of personal preference, of course. Really no technical issues, aside from paying for a manifold versus paying for a second small SPG.
