Mike, I think everyone on this Board will agree that venturing into OE's, either cave or wreck, DEMANDS that all potential problems be foreseen and prepared for before entering the water. The apparent opposing view is that in routine open water non-deco diving out here we don't need to be that demanding; that we can dive more "serandipitously"; that if s**t happens, we simply deal with it and/or return to the surface. In the best of all possible diving worlds, the DIR approach is hands down the safest way to go. But again, if absolute safety was our highest priority, none of us would be diving in the first place. Does this sum up the apparent conflict, DIR vs. The West Coast?
