You sound like you have a hard time with cold water and where have you ever done a long deco in CA. Deco diving is normally forbidden on CA boats. I've done a lot of diving in CA, mostly 4 to 7 tanks a day, with no need for deco. No one on the boat seemed that distressed and the water never gets much above 70 degrees here. It's much colder in winter when diving is best. If you get cold easily, fine, but maybe you should avoid unnecessary deco dives then if you aren't healthy enough to stay warm in the water.
Enjoy, seahunt
