As we draw closer and closer to Chamber Day (May 2), we find that the Michael Kane $10K Chamber Challenge keeps on growing and, with the generous donations of the individual and companies listed below, we're now cracked the $16,000 mark.
As we've told you before, our Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber needs to come up with about 33% of its annual budget through outside (meaning, no-LA County) sources. Chamber Day represents the biggest single contribution made to tour Chamber other than the County funds. And the Challenge presents great way to maximize this opportunity.
Through your contributions in the past, we've helped our Chamber get on better financial footing to where rather than existing on an I-hope-we-have-enough-to-pay-the-bills basis, our Chamber can actually now engage in some long-term planning and work on expanding other non-emergency programs, such as a special free Accident Management training session for boat owners and crew, and a similar one-day seminar (tentatively titled "What to Do When the Helicopter Leaves") aimed at shops, DMs, and instructors who run trips and are exposed to the possibility of being involved in an accident. Without the funds provided by Chamber Day, especially in the past two years, these programs might never have gotten off the ground.
Your support is critical. We'd LOVE to beat last year's Challenge total of $22,000 but we're not quite 3/4 of the way there yet. But for those of you who have been sitting on the fence and would like to be part of the last-minute stampede that puts us over the top . . . NOW'S THE TIME!!!!!!!
