Maybe it's the economy . . .
Maybe it's some people figuring "been-there-done-that" . . .
Maybe it's just that people don't know if they'll be hungry on May 2.
But the bottom line is that we've still got lots of available seats for Chamber Evening, Wednesday, May 2, at the magnificent Aquarium of the Pacific. And we're asking you to either (1) get yourself signed up if you haven't already, or (2) spread the word to friends/neighbors/clientele and get THEM to sign up.
Doors will open no later than 7:15PM and if the past two events are any barometer, this is one of the classiest events that the SoCal dive community participates in. We'll have free run of the Aquarium (including the intriguing "Jellies - Phantoms of the Deep" exhibit) throughout the evening which gives you a chance to take a look at the Aquarium's 12,000+ residents up-close-and-personal and without fighting the crowds that can accumulate during the Aquarium's normal hours.
Since we have a separate evening raffle (with about $15,000 in merchandise up for grabs) everyone's got a shot at walking home with something terrific. We got a complete package from Mares, a rebreather, tanks, regulators, BCs, computers, Dodger & Angel tickets, CD sets from Rhino Records, and a whole lot more. All attendees get 5 raffle tickets as part of their $75 ticket price. But there's also a chance to increase your odds of winning by buying additional raffle tickets at the event.
Dinner will start around 8:15 with a salad followed by a chicken dish (vegetarian meals available by advanced request) with all the trimmings, and a wonderful dessert. About the time dessert is being served, we'll start our program which will enable us to (1) tell you a little bit more about our Chamber, (2) recognize groups and individuals essential to making this event successful, (3) give away the raffle goodies to those in attendance, and (4) present our Chamber with a check.
It's a fabulous, fun-filled evening that offers not only a chance to raise much-needed funds for our Chamber, but also gives you a chance to mingle with your diving cohorts in a non-wetsuit environment. To get signed up, call Reef Seekers Dive Co., the co-ordinating store, at 310/652-4990. (Since some groups and organizations have tables pre-assigned, if there's a specific group you'd like to be with, let us know when you make your reservation.)
Hope to see you on the evening of May 2 for Chamber Evening!!!!
