The East side of the cove had a landslide after the Northridge quake and last week a large portion of the same slide fell, taking a small section of Paseo Del Mar with it. The water was relatively uneffected, although the trail has been fenced off. The shortest kayak trip would involve carrying your kayak down the trail at Marineland or Pt. Vicente fishing access(Cardiac Hill). The water at Christmas Tree Cove looked pretty good on Saturday morning, despite the wind and waves from Friday.
