BTDT, we've lowered kayaks over cliffs and then rapped down to launch. If one goes camping in Baja, just south of Ensenada, a mile or three from LA Bufadora at the remote sea-cliffs (at Lover's Beach, Los Arbolitos...spectacular! all of them!) one can car camp on the top of the cliffs and lower all the stuff down to the narrow, rocky beach and put in.

Of course, me being cheap as i am (was a poor college student for the longest time)i simply used the same dynamic rope i used for climbing, and yes, rapelling was never ever ever my favorite activity. I've always trusted my hands and feet in a dihedral or a crack much more that silly rope!
