most spearfishing divers i know stay away from the tourist scuba sites because the fishing isnt any good there anyway. they spearfish at unattractive remote sites away from the tourist crowd. end of that subject.
back to your original protest. there is no shortage of abalone in Northern California. the ab population has been managed carefully by the California DFG. the major enemies of ab populations are (1) commercial restaurant fishing for abs and (2) the vermine known as the sea otter.
