good questions!

it seems to me that if your primary 2nd stage freeflowed at depth, and you have an octo or a backup 2nd stage as youre supposed to, and youre diving with one tank, then you could pinch the hose of the freeflowing 2nd stage, like a garden hose, to manage or stop the freeflowing, and switch over to your octo or backup. your dive still needs to be aborted, but at least this would get you back up to the surface including a safety stop. n'est pas?

i've never tried this, because i have never had a freeflow at depth. i have had and seen freeflows at the surface, but never at depth.
