I used an Achilles 12'5" inflatable with a Suzuki 25hp for many years. It was a lot of fun. It carried my wife and I plus two sets of gear and four tanks to Catalina, Orange County and Palos Verdes many times. A 50hp and 13'8" sounds like a blast. One word of advise; Put you wetsuit on before you go out. The cold spray from the ocean gets VERY cold very quickly. We discovered by trial and error that laying the tanks parallel to the boat and attaching bungees between the tank valves and the interior hook at the bow, then stacking the gear bags and cooler on top of the tanks created the best stability. I would also recommend handheld VHS and GPS.
