that goes on back of my AL80. It acts as both a counterbalance and as a way to reduce the amount of weight I need to wear around my hips. I happen to use the tank weight manufactured by Halcyon (I own the Halcyon SS backplate with a Pioneer 36 wing), which has two advantages - It's curved so it fits snug against the tank and it uses a strap that actually threads through the single tank adaptor, so I end up with 3 straps holding my tank to my backplate (no worries about my tank floating away!). This setup keeps me near vertical at the surface (I actually tried to do a face plant once and found the worst I could do is roll over to one side a bit) but doesn't interfere with ability to maintain horizontal trim when diving.

Hope that helps.
