No, actually it's derived from the greek word oxymoros, which best translates to "pointed foolishness" or "pointedly foolish" depending on the tense. Kind of ironic that I just posted something on Socrates below. The greeks were famous for oxymorons. In fact, they were incredibly vague on purpose, and loved word play. It's what makes trying to learn and translate their works so difficult. Of course, having a low rate American education doesn't help.

-- I really don't think "dive drunk" is an oxymoron. I may be wrong, but wouldn't that be a sort of rhyme (dive / drive) or maybe a really shaky homynym?
