Proving a negative is a red herring.. Given how much we split hairs on this list I don't know that I can conclusively PROVE that SOLO diving caused his death..
What I do know is that he was diving solo ( or buddyless or independant) and he is dead...
He was a guy that was writing a book about mapping Ginnie Springs, he worked at Ginnie and he knew Ginnie better than most people on the face of the planet..
He dived it solo and he died doing it...
Short of that, and given that when I did the Henkel, you really don't get much deeper than 100' ( I honestly don't remeber but I'll be back in Fla. on June 2 and I will make a point of diving the Henkel to confirm), the fact is narcosis PROBABLY wasn't the cause, and from what I got from Steve on the occasions we met, I didn't get the impression he dove air..
I can NOT swear to that, but GENERALLY cave country = Nitrox, particularly with the locals...
