This may get lost in the posts below, so I thought it was worth getting its own thread: posted by JStone
My fellow divers,
So, how many diving deaths have been documented where divers were diving consistent with safe diving principles including diving with a buddy? How about "near deaths" or major accidents that were averted due to a buddy taking the appropriate action? Let's focus for a moment in this atmosphere of tragedy on tragedies avoided. Does anyone have a story to share? Perhaps this community can learn not only from failures but also from the victories of fellow divers . . . and from death cheated. We'll never know with certainty the details of solo deaths due to the lack of direct evidence of the cause of death. Direct evidence exists only in the senses of the diver who sensed (observed) the incident. Please, share your story!
