I don't want to get caught up in a game of definitions but did solo diving *cause* his death.. It will never be known what *caused* Steve's death..

But from all the reports that have come out, it appears that he got himself stuck in a restriction and wasn't able to free himself..

So in this example what *caused* his death was that he got caught in a restriction. However, any capable buddy would have been able to help him free himself. Furthermore, a capable buddy would have been able to get his stage bottle that was some 1400' away and any capable buddy would have been able to buddy breath with him..

So will we can debate *cause*, it is simply undefendable to advance a position that a Steve would still have died if he were diving with a buddy...
