For info on San Diego Diving check out John Moore's
website www.divebums.com. Includes descriptions
of both local beach and boat dives, a section
on dive reports and links to the local dive boats,
conditions, etc. It is a great resource for both
the local San Diego Dive Community and tourists.
My favorite local dive boat is DiveQuest Charters
as it is a fairly large 6 pack, so there is plenty
of room on the boat and a limited number of divers
(6 plus maybe a divemaster). The boat is also
pretty fast so runs to Coronados are quick and in
the summer he even makes single day trips to
San Clemente Island.
The most popular shore dive is La Jolla Shores
due to lots of parking, showers and frequently
smaller waves then other San Diego dive sites.
It is also a pick your depth dive site as the
offshore canyons falls off into never-never land.
However you pretty much see nothing but sand
and sand creatures until a few ledges at 50-60
feet.
