The main thing I came away with is: COMPLACENCY AND OVERCONFIDENCE KILLS. It forced me to remember instances when I "red lined" my dives, skirting the ragged edge of disaster, always confident that whatever went amiss I could handle it. Example: soloing into an upside down wreck in the Bahamas last February, not remembering that my exhaled bubbles could have caused heavy machinery on the "floor" above to come loose and crash down on top of me in my single minded quest for "goodies". I was "solo con Dios", because He was certainly looking after me. My life is worth more than another brass cage lamp...I think! Just kidding.
