Monterey is about a 3.5-4 hour drive for me (when there is no Bay Area commute traffic). I'm guessing that it's about the same from Fresno. Sure sounds tempting, especially since I only get to go to Monterey on weekends now. I think that I would use nitros though to help keep myself awake on the drive back. There was an incredible difference between how I felt after air vs. nitrox dives on my recent vacation. And the nitrox dives were much deeper.
