You paid too much, but some folk didn't think anyone who lived in SoCal was a "real" D.H. Almost as bad as East Coasters - very weird energy there...
I remember the first two years da boys went down to Ventura. The first year the cops chased us out of the parking lot with dogs. Seems that the local merchants figured out that the town sold out of just about everthing and was left no worse for wear. The next year the local security guys went around the parking lot with bull horns saying "hang out as long as you want." Stores, restaurants and motels had big hand written signs in their windows saying "Deadheads welcome." Tie-dyed money is still money!
