How can you be *more DIR than you think*, when, as I understand from your posts, you solo and have a gear configuration that runs counter productive to the DIR philosophy????
BTW, the DIR fundamental class does NOT require any gear other than what you have.. Check with Walker, but my understanding, is that the only gear that will NOT be allowed is gear that is life threatening ( ie; bondage wings or upstream regs)..
You'll be surprised how much you get out of a DIR Fundamentals class...
