I had a great encounter last summer at the Bishop rock area. It was right before dark, under the canopy at about 45ft. Suddenly about a dozen mature sharks just appeared! They were busy, you could tell they were focused. They moved in and out of the kelp strands with purpose. I had a very difficult time getting a picture of one as they would always shy away. Out of the 10 or so shots, i got one that showed the tail. At first i didn't like the pic, then i realized that it is the tail that is the distinguishing feature of that specie. That place is pretty fascinating at night, though it is a tough go while freediving. After i got out of the water, the shark pack came to the surface and chased the blue perch for a few brief moments. They are incredibly swift hunters.
