Uh, lemme think: few women, no kids, better instruction...and precious little deep deco stuff.
With all the increased knowledge about dive medicine I guess it was a miracle more of us didn't end up like pretzels! First decom meter was the S.O.S. Scubapro "Bend-O-Matic", made in Italy. It was only accurate for one dive! We used it repetitively but never pushed the needle into the red zone, surface intervaled until the needle dropped to the S in the word SURFACE. To us that meant "submerge". Yeah, them's was the days, alright. They were "golden" to us as long as we scored portholes!
