Frank, what I like about the DIR mindset is that it changes the way you think about diving on a whole. It makes you look at your equipment and your dive practices in a new light. I find this to be refreshing, after years the same old thing from the manufactures and the training agencies. Most Rec. divers don't have a clue about the equipment they have or the training they took. DIR training fills this gap.
As far as all or nothing, I think that everyone can benefit from a little DIR (it may not change the way you dive, but it will change the way you think about diving).
