Did the group ever use the pool at the Hawthorne Y? I practically grew up there. That's were my mom taught swimming. I remember several scout events there, including a kayak rolling clinic that was really funny. I was also on the Hawthorne AAU swim team, which met at another outdoor pool, so it could have been that one that your group used.
