We met at the city pool over on Inglewood Ave. It was an excellent facility for scuba training, since it had a large, separate 12' pool for springboard diving.
I do remember the Y pool - it was over next to the big gumdrop water tower. Took a lot of "Y" swimming lessons there. Wonder if it is still there.
I knew some people in the old Hawthorne Swim Club but the only names I can recall right now are Tom Martin and his sister, who I think is named Ann. Also, I think Dave Fujinaka swam in the Hawthorne Swim Club at one time, but then he moved on to Aquamarine (that was my AAU club) over at Aviation H.S. and then on to the big time at Philips 66 in Long Beach. Remember any of them?
