I am not so sure the couple were aiming to get the
two divers in trouble inasmuch as they just wanted
to get the bugs back to the water from whence they
came. I believe the reason why they went right to
the lifegard, is that they then have someone somewhat
credible to be able to prove the bugs in their
possession were being returned. I mean, when I first
saw the couple, I was pissed they had the bugs in
the first place. At that initial reaction, I had no idea
what their intentions were. If there was a DF&G
officer around, I am sure they would have approached
him instead.
That aside, after the poachers threw out the solo
lobster into the atrium area of the hotel, there
was probably no longer any evidence they had committed
any crime, other than he/she said - they said.
The BA's Rocky Daniels is a past Internet acquaitence of
mine from the past 6 years or so. I felt his
passion of seeing ab poachers being brought to
justice after learning how the couple came into
posessing the bucket full+ of lobster. While
I do not feel it is as rampant as ab poaching,
anyone taking out of season bug is jeopardizing
the population for the next decade to some extent.
The commercial bug fishing industry is already
being slammed for the 'practices' of a few boats.
I would like to think that the same disparaging
attitudes would not be attributed to sport divers
hunting bug. It's bozo actions like what the two
poachers performed that give the rest of us a bad
rap.
