"When a potential student walks into a shop and is told, here take this CD-Rom home and watch it, by definition the stage is set and it's implied that the value of the training and the quantity of the instruction can be reduced to a mere cd-rom and then it spirals downhill from there.."
I personally like the idea of a CD-Rom tutorial that covers everything in great detail. In addition the audio visual demos will help implant the technique into ones thinking. The obvious drawback is the inability to stop and ask questions if you get confused. So, I don't think this media should replace good old fashion lecture sessions but be used in conjunction with lecture and quizzes. The student can always go back and review the material any time and after layoffs from the sport.
