that purple urchins lack the nutritional value to sustain the otters. The otters may consume the purple urchins but they still end up malnourished. There are others that doubt that the otters could even survive off the So Cal coast in any great numbers, although, one was supposedly sighted off of Rocky Pt in February or March.
