As Michael has already said, the response has been fantastic for the
upcoming DIR Demo the weekend of 7/21-22. For those who may not be
aware, this event has also been announced on the RSD BBS, Diverlink's
BBS, and some others. It looks as if there will be many coming in from
out of the area to attend the event. We are probably going to have to
pull out and ship the PA over so that everyone can hear what will need
to be said.

One common thread of questions I have been receiving, is where to
stay, how to get to the island, and what the actual diving facilities
are like on the island. I have been pointing people to the related
online reference site for things like hotels, Cat Express passenger service, Avalong dive shops, etc. But something is becoming obvious.

Something as simple as making a reservation for the boat could be a
problem if you have not alreday done so. Some of the early boats are
almost already full. Likewize, the hotels at Avalon are also filling up. I would like to believe that it is the interest of the DIR event only that's sparking the facilities to fill up, but that would be too
presumptous of me. I do believe that with the usual Avalon weekend
crowds AND the DIR Demo event, getting what you want as far as hotel
and ferry times will be limited. Remember, July is considered peak
season for Avalon.

This event can easily be done in a single day - or you could stay over
for a second just to enjoy the weekend. There is no need to have to stay for both days. The material for Sunday will be an almost carbon
copy of what was presented Saturday. Please keep that in mind when
making your plans for that weekend.
