I've never had a pair that was any good after a year and given the nature of some of my dives I can't afford to worry about a seal leak when I'm facing a few hours of deco...
We carry spare wrist seals on some of our longer dives and to me swaping them out after a year or so is pro-actively avoiding a problem...
