Mike, I think that the Ocean is an overhead environment.
I like the rule of 1/3's for all dives (1/3 out 2/3 to get you home)
If you unclip the SPG from your D ring you can look at your depth gauge, SPG, and compass. I like the O-ring/clip ideal because it works good and you don't have to buy an expensive coil or a retractor(which are dangal off your BC).
It's surprising how much, of a difference a little streamlining makes in your diving preformance.
