The only computer available in the 70's was the Scubapro Decompression Meter, made in Italy, dubbed the "Bend-O-Matic". He probably forbad it because it was only accurate for one dive.
No, the DIR/GUE folks didn't invent pre-dive planning. That goes as far back as I do, 1964, and probably before that.
