Your arguements have all the nonsensical fervor of a bible thumpin "can't fool me with the facts" type preacher. THE gas has an O-D-O-R for just that reason! if you find a leak with the match, how do you know that the opening of the leak won't be large enough to allow a backlight, taking a good portion of the neighborhood with it!? Is it soo difficult for you to get some soap and water on a rag and look/listen for bubbles? NO EXPERIENCED PLUMBER north of the border would call that safe!!
