Ya know, it seems to me that some people, notably the DIR advocates keep pushing anything that will make diving look more dangerous, even if it is questionable and of only limited applicability. They keep talking about depths that only they like to go to. If there are so many problems associated with depth, I can't figure out why they are pushing techniques and dive locations that are far deeper than traditional CA sport diving has involved. It's nice that they explore and test new ideas, but I figure that they actively promote dives that are far more hazardous than a traditional solo sport dive. Depth kills.
