I have a Suunto Cobra rather than a Genesis, but I noticed a similar timeout problem once or twice when trying to download dives. The problem turned out to be that there was not a solid physical/electrical connection between the interface and the contacts on the back of the Cobra. You might check to make sure that the contacts on your dive computer are clean and that the interface is firmly attached. Good luck!
