the South African runner, Lola Budd, who competed in the '84 Olympics i believe (but am not sure) used to train and compete barefoot.
All i can say is OUCH! watch out for all dat broken glass!
come to think of it, i used to rockclimb barefoot...gave it up tho' the shoes were better...
