as far as DIR leading folks to deeper depths and more hazardous pursuits, wellllll, The GUE manuals that i have seem to speak vehemently against that mentality, what with their focus on planning, gas management, etc. The people who are likely to get in trouble using "DIR configs" are those who only adopt the equipment config without adopting the common-sense or planning that goes with going deeper for longer.
DIR is more than the BP, wings & long hoses. There is more to this is presently given on the internet.
