"The prevalence of bone necrosis in non-saturation air diving to depths of up to 150ft (50m) is very low (0.8%).1 Dysbaric osteonecrosis is rare in recreational divers who breathe compressed air at depths of less than 50 metres, and who follow the customary decompression tables.2 "
Thanks Bill, for doing such thorough research and clueing us in. It's interesting and reassuring indeed that the depths most people dive to 150' or less with air while avoiding saturation that problems with bone death are rare. I know some rec. depth divers that have 3000-6000 dives under their belt who are still active without major problems one would expect if accumlative damage was taking it's toll. This also is evidence to support the finding wouldn't you agree, Bill?
