I was down in SoCal this weekend, but alas, I was there to see the Lion King, not dive. While I may not be the most prolific diver, I have to take my wife out for culture at least once every other month.
Just because we can't dive every weekend doesn't make us some two bit loser. Of course, it isn't a great way to achieve profieciency either. But I actually did dive a bit this weekend. In my new kitchen (or should I say in the new-to-me kitchen). The icemaker decided that the weekend we were gone would be a good time to fail, and since I didn't have any redundancy built in (a very non-DIR fridge), the failure was catastrophic. It took me an hour with a five pound sledge to break the block out of the freezer (once I managed to get the door open). Water temp was probably around 70, vis was superb, and I reached a total of about 4 inches for two hours.
