i was surprised by the statement in the article
that ironically the whales would have survived
just fine with the existence of the factory,
but i still would not have supported the killing
of other marine species.
as for the number of jobs that would have been
created, i wouldn't know about that, but i
do indeed feel for the small town that relies
more on seasonal income rather than a steady job.
i hope they will be able to continue and live
their life instead of turn into a ghost town.
i'm cerainly very glad to read about the residents
of punta abreojos who seem to have managed their
resources well and were able to protect their
livelihood--kudos to them!
anyway, i didn't mean to post this article for
controversial reasons, i just hadn't gotten around
to typing it up as quickly as i typed up the others.
i just liked the article and thought others
would appreciate the subject matter.
