We have an annual ab cook-off contest up here. Many of the winning recipes are collected in a cookbook put together by Ed Whitt.

The winner at this year's cook-off was abalone tempura with sesame seeds and a homemade sweet and sour sauce.

Whatever you do don't "blacken" them.
